Our story begins simply with a love of food and an enthusiasm for dinner parties.
Through a yearly magazine and snackable digital content, we share simple ideas and inspiring stories for people who love to cook, eat, and host.
Meet Our Founder.
Amber Mayfield started her career in New York City, working as a Page at NBCUniversal, and later became an assistant at Bravo TV. While working at Bravo TV and exploring the city’s bustling restaurant scene, Amber fell in love with food and the storytelling that surrounds the food industry on screen, in magazines, and at events. But she didn’t see a space carved out for people of historically marginalized communities. In 2017, Amber launched To Be Hosted, producing dinner parties and events with diverse chefs, artists, musicians at the center. In 2020, Amber launched While Entertaining Magazine to further champion Black perspectives in food, while providing resources for food and entertaining enthusiasts.
